I am a voice teacher in Riverside, CA. I teach a singing technique that is geared towards any genre of popular music (i.e. rock, pop, theater, christian, etc. NOT opera or classical). My focus is on vocal technique rather than vocal style or genre, since the technique can be applied to any genre. But I also have an extensive performance background so I can definitely help you with audition preparation and performance technique also. The technique I teach empowers my clients to greatly extend their range and sing with power and confidence without putting any more strain on the voice than normal speech. It is VERY powerful.

My Teaching Background I studied voice with a former Seth Riggs Associate for 4 years. He added some of his own flavors to Mr. Riggs' method and that is what I learned and subsequently, what I teach. This method is not something new and untested -- it has actually been in use for many, many years by the top names in popular music and theater. I have been teaching in my home studio since 2002. Many of my clients have gone on to signing recording contracts, working in professional theater (LA and Broadway), and obtaining scholarships to prestigious music schools like California Institute for the Arts, and Idylwild Performing Arts High School, to name a few. I have an extensive background as a singer performing in rock bands, as a pop/jazz solo artist and in musical theater, and I am a multiple Inland Theater League award winner. I am also a composer, arranger, and music director. My Teaching Philosophy I have a relaxed approach to teaching. I try to keep it fun and interesting. After a few weeks of doing basic exercises to understand the concepts of proper vocal technique, we start working on songs. Part of each lesson is then dedicated to technique exercises and vocal improvement, then the rest of the lesson is for applying what the client in learning to actual songs. We also work on performance technique (stage presence, mic work, movement, etc.). What I expect from my clients is that they take singing, and their lessons, seriously. I record each lesson onto a CD which I provide. This is the student's practice tool for the next lesson. I expect students to want to improve and the only way to do that is by consistent and persistent practice of what they learn in each lesson. This is very important. My philosophy is to be encouraging and helpful. I don't put my students down or pressure them. I believe in being edifying, encouraging and supportive. But, I expect the student to practice and take their craft seriously. Rates And Availability I teach in my home studio only. I record each lesson and I also record demos or audition tracks for my clients and that is all much easier to do in my own studio. My fees are: $35 for a half-hour lesson and $65 per hour. Most of my students take half-hour lessons. One-hour lessons are only for those clients who are auditioning and/or performing and/or have demonstrated their commitment to their craft. The need for one-hour sessions is determined on a case-by-case basis.
